Mondello Park Truck Show 2014

We M&M Diecast Models are just back from Mondello’s 2nd Truck Show held on Saturday the 5TH of July and Sunday 6th of July 2014. This show can only be described as a superb Truck Show. The weather wasn’t hectic on the Saturday as we had showers of rain but we were thrilled to see the sun shining all day long on Sunday. Our M&M Diecast Models Trade Stand was again this year located in Trade Stand/Garage 9 and 10. We had a nice steady crowd of people visit us on Saturday with steady sales but on Sunday we had great crowds of people and were very busy selling. A word of thanks to all our customers old and new who dropped into shop with us.

Mondello Park Racing Track was alive with the steel gladiator racing Trucks. These 4x2 colourful racing tractor unit truck monsters are 1100 horsepower and were going wheel to wheel on the racing track and these were a big attraction for the public over both days. It was fascinating to watch the pilots of the Scania, Mercedes Benz, Renault and Man Racing Trucks go head to head on the action packed racing track. These trucks were trying to reach the maximum speed of 160km/h allowed by the truck racing regulations. The high speed precision driving of these racing trucks was incredible. One of the strongest claims to fame for these trucks is that they are faster to 100mph than a Porsche 911 and that I would agree with and by the look on the crowd’s faces I think they would agree also.

Another major and vital part of any Truck Show was the Static Lorry Show Displays including exhibits from truck manufactures and the truck trade along with fleet and individual displays. These were located in the centre grounds of the show. It goes without saying these were a major attraction for the public as they go and view the washed and shinning Lorries and meet the hauliers for the chat .Great care and dedication is given by the truckers to their Lorries and it is very much evident at these truck shows, hats off to them. The public also decided what their favourite truck was from the display and from the track, this went down a treat.

The legendary Convoy of every truck present was fantastic on Sunday evening as crowds of people flocked to the track including myself to take pictures of the lorries and also wave goodbye to the Truckers as they headed away to face another week of hard work. This was a great Truck Show with the combination of static and racing trucks all in one venue, if you were not there you don’t know what you’ve missed. Well done to all the Mondello Truck Show organising Team, it was a credit to ye and we at M&M Diecast Models are already waiting to welcome back Mondello Truck Show 2015 next year.
